The End of an Era - Chapter 14

Life was nuts!  I was running several clubs all over the County.  This has now lasted several years and life was getting wilder and wilder.  I was literally out all night on Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights.   Running the Swimwear contests on Sunday afternoons, and then going to work 8-5 Monday-Friday.  I was literally two different people!

And the life I was living was very loose and fast. My phone never stopped ringing - I was making all kinds of side deals all day and all night long. I was coming up with new and more creative ways to make money at the clubs. I would have pajama parties (really lingerie parties) sponsored by Lingerie Companies.

(By the way - Notice the guy on the right.  This was one of the Indonesian Security Guys)

Red Bull had just come out and they would sponsor EVERYTHING I did.  I had themed nights, themed drinks, VIP Bottle Service, Side Parties, side girls, side guys.... Money was flowing like crazy - but it was starting to get too crazy for me to live this double life.  Towards the end I had a several crazy things happen that made me realize I needed to slow it down...

One of my favorite stories is when I was out with my friend, Stevie C....

For a long time Stevie's Promo company and I (the radio stations) would team up to put on these HUGE New Years and Halloween Parties.  I essentially would work for Stevie on these nights, at the same time running OTHER New Years and Halloween Parties at my own club.  But these big parties would bring in 800-1000 people. All dressed up, money flowing, party all night

.Well.... when you throw parties like Stevie and I did, you gotta leave town to enjoy yourself. Otherwise, hanging out in town is like working.  You gotta play the part.  So we left town one night to go to Hollywood to celebrate Tony's Birthday.  So... here we go - a bunch of us piled in Stevie's limo off to Hollywood to enjoy the night.  We had a great time!  No one, except the Club Management, knew us - so we could relax.

At some point during the night Tony and his girlfriend took off to another club down the street.  When the night ended we gathered up the rest of the crew and headed to the limo.  We drove down the street to pick up Tony and his girl.  We could not get a hold of Tony on his phone so the driver decided to go in and grab him.  A couple of the other guys followed him in to help.

Stevie and I sat in the limo waiting when all of a sudden we felt the driver get in and take off. Why is he leaving without Tony???  So Stevie rolled down the driver window between us and realized that some stranger had gotten in the car and car jacked us with us in the back of the limo!

I had never heard the voice that came out of Stevie that night as he yelled at the guy in the driver seat.  LOL!!!!!  You should have seen the guys face when he realized there were actually people in the back seat!  He was so scared!  He kept yelling... It's cool man!  It's cool man!  Steve kept yelling at him and the guy stops right in the middle of the street and jumps out.

Right then our driver jumps in - he had been chasing us down the street on foot!   Oh shit that was crazy!  Good times!

But the epitome of this chapter of my life was on Cinco De Mayo weekend 2001.  Stevie used to put on these AMAZING Comedy nights - and this one was no different.  Stevie always knew how to find the best up and coming comics.  This night included Gabriel Iglesias.  This is before he was called FLUFFY.  Back then he was Pikachu.  He has always been so fun and kind and that night was an especially fun night.

I remember thinking that this was an awesome life.  I loved my radio station family so much!  Stevie and crew were just true friends that I could trust - we understood each other and loved doing business together.  I was making a ton of money, having a great time, but as they say - all good things come to an end...

That night we partied all night, and I went home just in time to meet the paper boy.  I met my sister and her husband at the beach later that morning to chill out and sleep.  I was telling her all about all the crazy things that happened backstage the night before.

I slept on the beach for a while and then suddenly looked over at her.

I think I'm pregnant.

What??? Are you late?

No

Are you sick?

No

Then why do you think you're pregnant?

I don't know - I just do.

Shut up.  Go back to sleep.

But I couldn't shake it.  After laying there for about an hour it bothered me so much that I left the beach!  I went straight to the store, bought a pregnancy test - and sure enough I was pregnant.

Needless to say.... I flipped the fuck out.
